CAM is a professional and dynamic community of individuals and organizations that seeks to create a brighter future for museums and their communities. We connect museum professionals and volunteers with timely information and practical resources, which fosters museums that are relevant and effective organizations that make a positive impact on our state and its citizens.
Our institutional members are located in over 50 of the state’s 58 counties and they range in size, scope, and discipline. They include historical societies, cultural centers, art museums, botanical gardens, science centers, tribal museums, zoos, aquariums, and children’s museums. We submit an annual report to our membership on our programs, financial health, and new initiatives.
We work collaboratively with many statewide and national partners to achieve shared goals. Our recent partners include the California Arts Council, California State Parks, the California Council for the Humanities, the California State Library, the California Preservation Program, the California Exhibition Resources Alliance, the Registrar's Committee - Western Region, the California Chapter of the Museum Computer Network, the Western Museums Association, the American Association of Museums, and the Association for State and Local History.
We invite you to join our network and experience first-hand how we can excel together. Our office is located on a bluff overlooking the Monterey Bay in Santa Cruz, courtesy of our office host, the Seymour Marine Discovery Center at Long Marine Laboratory.
Quarterly newsletter is sent to members, business sponsors, and supporters of the San Lorenzo Valley Museum.
We issue a newsletter semi-annually.
