The Aberdeen Museum of History
Aberdeen, Washington

General, History

Throughout its history the Aberdeen Armory Building has been a source of civic pride and activity. Indeed, at the time of its construction, the Armory was hailed as a truly imposing structure. An Aberdeen Daily World article of the period stated: "The Armory in its completed state will appeal to the pride of every resident of Aberdeen." The Armory has been a sound and stylish shelter for community affairs for the last 84 years. In its new role as the Aberdeen Museum of History, the Grays Harbor Genealogical Society, the Aberdeen Senior Community Center, and the Grays Harbor Community Action Program, it will have many years of valuable public service in the future.

CWB is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to preserving maritime heritage for future generations. We believe that it is essential to preserve the skills and stories associated with wooden small craft by teaching workshops, organizing events and regattas, and igniting a passion for wood and water in young and old alike. We thrive because of the support of a dedicated group of volunteers, members, and staff who believe that our mission is important. We also stay afloat with the help of generous donors and other supporters of The Center for Wooden Boats.

The Eastside Heritage Center
Redmond, Washington

History

The Eastside Heritage Center was established in 2001 through the merger of the Bellevue Historical Society, in Bellevue, and the Marymoor Museum of Eastside History, in Redmond. Due to King County budget shortfalls, the Marymoor Museum was asked to leave its home of 35 years, the Clise Mansion at Marymoor Park. The Museum closed its doors in December, 2002, and the collection of over 30,000 objects is now housed in offsite storage. We are developing programming for satellite exhibits to allow continued public access to the collection, and we are planning strategically for new exhibit facilities.
