History and mystery beckon from atop Casper Mountain in the heart of central Wyoming. Trails wind gently among the pine and aspen while the log cabin museum provides a warm step back in time. Crimson Dawn Park and Museum welcomes you to the enchanted world of Neal Forsling's creative and inspirational legacy.
Surrounding the warm, rustic cabin museum are acres of beautiful mountain land. Here lie trails guiding the intrinsic visitor on a tour of shrines dedicated to the Enchanted Witches and other characters from the pages of Neal's book, Crimson Dawn. Storylines inspired by the mystique of the land come to life for all who enter this magical realm. Come experience this mystical mountain top for yourself. Pure inspiration awaits...
Nestled among the edge of the forest with a panoramic view of Muddy Mountain is the Woodland Theater. This beautiful feature of Crimson Dawn Park provides a magical meeting place with group seating and podium platform ideal for many events. Woodland Theater is very popular for weddings and you can reserve your special day by contacting the Natrona County Parks Road and Bridge Department (info on our Contact page).
"The Crimson Dawn Museum is the original log cabin home of Neal Forsling, her husband Jim, and her two daughters, Mary and Jean. Dating from 1929, the Museum contains mementos of their life on the mountain. Several of Mrs. Forsling's paintings are displayed, as well as artifacts found in the area" (Crimson Dawn Park & Museum brochure).
We openly invite you to drop by the museum and speak with the curator to learn more of the fascinating history that this little piece of land holds. Below you will find information on Neal's published works, her art, and even a DVD documentary - all of which can be purchased online and at the museum. The proceeds of these items help support the park and museum for the enjoyment of all.
Public events at Crimson Dawn Park & Museum include our Annual Midsummer Festival and occasional drumming circles. The park is also a popular site for weddings, family reunions, and other such functions. Some of these events are featured here and if you would like a photo of your event posted please contact the site administrator. If you need further information on how to reserve areas of the park for your special event please contact the Natrona County Parks Road and Bridge Department.
The Crimson Dawn Association is a diverse group of individuals sharing the common goal of ensuring the continuation of the Crimson Dawn vision. The group began as friends of Neal Forsling recognized the need for structure and planning of the growing Midsummer event. This annual festival remains the central focus of the Crimson Dawn Association. Other goals and projects present themselves periodically as needs transpire.
